Kunihiko Yogo

Title: Former Managing Director, IRCJ / Chairman and CEO, Kanebo Cosmetics, Inc.

Professional Background

Mr. Yogo graduated with his ME from the Mechanical Engineering Department of Tokyo University before beginning his career in 1983 at the Science and Technological Agency at Prime Minister's Office (later merged with Ministry of Education and became Ministry of Education, Science and Technology). He worked in the Atomic Energy Bureau and the International Trade Policy Bureau of the Ministry of International Trade and Industry. After serving as Deputy Director of the Atomic Energy Bureau, he left the ministry. In 1989, Mr. Yogo earned his MBA from the Amos Tuck school of Business at Dartmouth College in the US. In 1991, he joined McKinsey and Company and became involved in policy making and organizational reform projects, in which technology played a key role. In addition to specializing in communications, Mr. Yogo managed a variety of projects in other fields. In May 2000, he became co-CEO of Hikari Tsushin Inc. and turned around the company. In August 2003, he became Managing Director of the Industrial Revitalization Corporation of Japan. Mr. Yogo also reconstructed the management at Kanebo Cosmetics Inc., as Chairman and CEO. In 2006, he was inaugurated as President and CEO of ARUZE Corporation. Mr. Yogo has since left ARUZE Corporation and lectures for the Kenichi Ohmae Graduate School of Business.

He also helps Mayor Hashimoto of Osaka City in his movement to reform Osaka, as one of the special advisors, focusing on issues regarding privatization of public owned businesses such as subway and bus transportation services.
